The lighting is really bad right now, so I will show some official pics, and then link to a couple of other blogs, who always have corret and gorgeous swatches.

Hunting down an item

Today I went hunting. I am participating in a Secret Santa thread at The Purse Forum, and the person I got as my recipient (Miss ?) whished for a specific item, that I knew that I could get. I was so exited, since it is my first time doing a swap like this.

Today I went shopping for Miss ?. The first shop I went to did not have it. Neither did the second. I started to get a bit nervous. I called a bunch of other shops. None of the had it. The last shop I called gave me this message: It was not in the shops anymore.

I looked like this:

Then I got an idea. Why not call the company. So I did. The receptionist was very sweet, and told me to send her an email and then she would look at it asap.

I emailed her right away and 15 minutes later I got a response. I could buy the item from them (but only if I bought 3) and then they would ship them to me. I was extatic. YAY!!!

Im so happy I got it, now Miss ? will get the loveliest pressie from her Secret Santa

LE items

"LE". Those two letters almost always gets me psyched up if it is regarding a beauty product. What is it with "Limited Edition" that makes me go crazy over beauty products? I have been known to buy multiple of the same product , just in case I ran out, and then would not be able to get it at a reasonable price again. I now have a large shoebox filled with a bunch of LE perfumes, that I "just had to get because I would use it forever", while the truth is that I have not even finished the first bottle!

Am I the only one who acts this way?

Why I wear nailpolish

I admit to often wearing black clothes. About 95 % of the time. Officially I wear it because it is timeless and elegant, not so officially also because it is slimming and practical. Even though I mostly dress in black, it certainly does not equal that I dont like colors. Just the opposite, because I love colors and my mood can change depending on color. When I need to be cheered up, I wear something bright, and when I need to calm down, it is a soothing neutral I choose. For me nailpolish is a way to take care of my self, to be feminine and to show my personal style.

Im not that much into colorful makeup, I dont think it looks good on me because of my overall coloring (pale, green eyes and medium brown hair), often I look like a little girl who has played with makeup. Not a cute look... So nailpolish is also a way for me to be up-to-date with the latest makeup trends without loosing "myself" on the way.

Why do you wear nailpolish?

Comparison: Chanel Paradoxal vs. Barry M Dusky Mauve

Since many people have issues with paying top-dollar for Chanel polishes, many brands try to dupe the latest it-colors. This is Barry M's version of Paradoxal. In my picture Dusky Mauve looks darker than Paradoxal, but that must be the lightning, because as you can see on Rijah's blog they are identical!

Don't press buy, don't press buy, don't press buy...

Im sitting at my desk at work (after hours, of course), and I am SOOO very tempted to press "buy" on a totally overpriced Riva on ebay. I keep saying my mantra "a dear friend will buy and send it to you", but I'm just so impatient. I have opened and closed the ebay site a thousand times, and I think that I will win over my lust after it. I also keep reminding myself, that I will not be able to wear it any sooner, as I have a lot of np I want to try before 2011, so it does not make any difference if I get it in a week or in a month.

But still...!!!

Anyone ever felt the same way?

My green and blue Chanels

Being a sucker for both colorful np and Chanel, these are must-haves for me.

L-R: Glacé (over Nude Chic from Dior), Glacé, Vert Sacrilegé,
Khaki Vert, Jade and Nouvelle Vague

I dont think I would wear Glacé alone, I'm not that much into colors that just give a little tint. They have to be opaque. Thats why I tried it over my mannequin mani, Nude Chic from Dior, as that is who I would actually wear it. It took a lot (!) of coats to get it somewhat opaque, even over NC. I think I stoppet by the 5th one?
But that left me with a very unique color, that I actually really like. It is kind of blue/green/grey and has the smooshiest jelly finish.

I got myself Vert Sacrilegé as a pressie for finishing the first year of my education. It is a true stunner, filled with both hidden and obvious shimmer. It was pretty hardwearing, and I got so many compliments. Worth every $ I paid on ebay.

I fell in love with Khaki Vert the moment I saw pics of it (and the two other Khaki's Brun and Rose), and with a some (a lot) of help from a dear friend, I got my little paws on it. Yet another hardwearing np, and yet again I got a lot of compliments. Maybe I should only wear green?

Jade was my 25th birthday pressie from myself. I never thought I would ever get it, so when I saw it for sale, I jumped at it. And I will never regret that. It is truly beautiful with the hidden shimmer, and it applies like a dream.

This summers it-color from Chanel was Nouvelle Vague. It has the same qualities as Jade, with the hidden shimmer and great application. It is babyblue/turquoise/green, but still kinda muted, if that makes sense. It such a summery color that instantly lifts my spirits and takes me to the beaches of Crete.

My "only buy and wear Chanel in 2011" experiment

I have been writing many intros to this post, but none seem just right. So I will just start out with the facts:

- I will only buy Chanel nailpolishes in 2011
- I will only wear Chanel nailpolishes in 2011

Exeptions:
- I will use up my Gosh basecoat and then purchase a Chanel basecoat
- I will keep on using Seche Vite (or another) fast-drying topcoat
- I get 10 exeptions for both buying and wearing (I'm still considering this)

I counted my Chanel polishes last night, and the amount kinda shocked me. 40!!! I only thought I had about 20, maybe 25 (thats whats having a Helmer does to you, when you cant see all your np at the same time!)

Now my Chanel np's are all in one drawer, the 8 I yet have to try on the left, the 32 trieds on the right.

Picture of my stash: (the bright eyed will spot that there is only 39 polishes. And correct, cos one of them are currently at my parrents).

I hope you will follow my experiment, give me support when Im tempted and feel all exited about the new polishes to come as well.

XOXO
